Student wins GIDE ‘Celebration: An Invitation to Dinner’ Prize

Monika Szynkielewska, third year student of BA (Hons) Art & Design (Interdisciplinary) is the GIDE ‘Celebration: An Invitation to Dinner’ Prize Winner. 

The GIDE international event “Feed the planet” took place in Mechelen, Belgium from 24 to 28 February 2014. During the international event 200 design students and 40 staff members, PhD researchers, guest professors and visiting professionals from different nations looked at the social, ecological and sustainable aspects of the theme “Food”.

Monika received a trophy for her exhibit ‘The Uninvited Guest’ a photographic and sound installation work commenting on issues around breastfeeding in public.  Monika has been invited to exhibit in a group exhibition; curated by Roeland Tweelinckx from Mechelen, Belgium. Fellow third year student of BA (Hons) Art & Design (Interdisciplinary) Nathalie Mayer and work from ‘The Tetley Feast’ were also exhibited at the GIDE Workshop in February.
