BMus (Hons) Popular Music Performance Course Leader Dr Tom Attah has made his second appearance on BBC Radio 2’s The Blues Show with Cerys Matthews.
After appearing with Cerys Matthews last year to discuss the tours made by American blues artists which brought about the British blues boom of the 1960s, Tom Attah was invited back onto the show.
This time Tom joined Cerys to explore women of the blues, featuring music by Bessie Smith, Memphis Minnie, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Nina Simone.
Dr Tom Attah is a practising musician, and Popular Music Performance Course Leader at Leeds Arts University. His research interests focus on the effects of technology on popular music and society, currently exploring the ways that the internet helps to perpetuate, develop, and disseminate blues music and blues culture in the present day.
