Leeds Print Festival is back for its fifth year from Saturday 2nd April to Saturday 9th April taking place at The Gallery at Munro House.
Celebrating traditional and contemporary print process through type and image.
The week-long programme of exhibitions, talks, workshops and performances cover all print disciplines, with high profile speakers including Patrick Burgoyne, Anthony Burrill, Mr Bingo and Ken Garland to name but a few. The festival showcases creatives who work with, play and love print and uniquely it aims to discover talented print makers who may be currently working on their home made presses or recent design graduates who haven’t previously exhibited their work.
Amber Smith, the director of Leeds Print Festival is the programme leader of BA (Hons) Graphic Design at Leeds College of Art, an avid Air Max trainer collector and occasional Katy Perry fan.
LPF x G.F Smith Print Archive
Saturday 2nd – Friday 29th of April
Colours May Vary at Munro House
Third year BA (Hons) Graphic Design students studying at Leeds College of Art created a contemporary archive exploring print processes and their relationship to colour paper stock.
Students were set a brief by Leeds Print Festival that encouraged them to explore print processes, both contemporary and traditional. They were randomly assigned a paper from the G.F Smith Paper’s Colorplan range with the chosen print needing to celebrate the paper’s colour. The intention was to create a contemporary print archive that drew inspiration from G.F Smith’s own Heritage exhibition and regional archives such as SDC archives in Bradford.
There's lots to see and do throughout the festival from workshops and talks with Alan Kitching, Ian Anderson and Danny Leigh. Check out the full festival programme at www.leedsprintfestival.com
