Leeds College of Art awarded an HR Excellence in Research Award

28 June 2017

We are pleased to announce that Leeds College of Art has been awarded the European Commission HR Excellence in Research Award, one of just 98 UK institutions that hold the award.

The HR Excellence in Research Award acknowledges the College’s long term commitment to a high quality environment for research staff and fellows, in alignment with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

In order to gain the HR Excellence in Research award, Leeds College of Art had to complete a comprehensive gap analysis of existing research policies and practice against the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers and develop a robust action plan taking into account areas for progression and the views of researchers at the College.

On achieving the award, Professor Randall Whittaker, Director of Studies commented:

“We are delighted to be recognised by the European Commission for our commitment to supporting practise-based research.

This award is a significant acknowledgement of that commitment, and we will continue work on developing an environment and infrastructure where practise-based researchers can flourish.”
