Whatuni Winner LogoThe University was also shortlisted across four other categories including University of the Year, Course & Lecturers, Local Life and Students’ Union.

Nominations are made by students and recognise the excellent quality of the University’s higher education experience. They offer prospective students an unbiased, student-led alternative to traditional university ranking systems. This year’s shortlisting was based on over 41,000 student reviews from 150 universities across the UK.

Professor Simone Wonnacott, Vice-Chancellor, Leeds Arts University said: “We are so pleased to have won the WhatUni award for Student Support as it is voted for by students. It is more important than ever, especially at this time, that students feel supported by their University. This honours the commitment, care and hard work of all of our academic and support staff.’”

Edward, BA (Hons) Creative Writing student said: “The support is fantastic. Tutorials are singular and focused and allow for you to discuss in full detail anything that is on your mind, both for and against the course experiences.”

The University has won the WhatUni Student Choice Award for the UK University with the Best Facilities three times in six years (2019, 2016 and 2014) and came second in 2017 and 2018. Last year the University ranked second for Student Support, sixth for overall University of the Year and in the top ten for Accommodation.

Cherie Metcalf, Head of Marketing and Communications at IDP Connect, said: “The WUSCAs reflect the voice of the student, and for an institution to have been nominated in 2020 means they are making a significant, positive difference to the experience, and the lives, of their students.”

The Whatuni Student Choice Awards, now in their seventh year, offer an unbiased, student-led alternative to traditional university ranking systems and are all voted for by current students. The Whatuni Student Choice Awards are run by whatuni.com.
