University Curator, Dr Catriona McAra, has curated 31 Women Artists, an exhibition held at Sedona Arts Centre, Arizona.
31 Women Artists is a recreation of Peggy Guggenheim’s Exhibition of 31 Women, which includes works by six of the women artists who were featured in the original show: Leonora Carrington, Dorothea Tanning, Leonor Fini, Hedda Sterne, Sonja Sekula, and Hazel Guggenheim.
Women artists living and working around the world were also invited to enter the exhibition with work that has in some way been influenced by the surrealist movement. Dr McAra judged the 220 entrants, awarding prizes to artists Jill Eberle, Kelsey Ashe and Rose Moon, and a place in the exhibition to a further 23 artists, including BA (Hons) Fine Art alumna Sonia Moran.
31 Women Artists will run at the Sedona Arts Centre, Arizona until 26 January 2020. Dr McAra will give a curators talk on Thursday 23 January. Find out more here.
