Final year BA (Hons) Fashion Design students have been invited to Coal Drops Yard, London for the annual Graduate Fashion Week (GFW), taking place 12 -18 June 2021.
To mark thirty years of the event, GFW hosted a design competition challenging graduates to get creative and come up with ways to celebrate this huge milestone. We’re thrilled to congratulate two of our very own BA (Hons) Fashion Design students who were among the final four winning entries. Catie MacGregor and Chloe Johnson both won £250 for their creative submissions and a slot to showcase these at the event itself.

Catie’s work is a celebration of the perseverance of students, graduates and the Graduate Fashion Foundation through the last 12 months. This was brought to life with cut out outfits and a nod to those girl’s childhood retro favourites - paper dolls. The idea allows digital participants to print and cut out a version and get involved with this year’s hybrid digital GFW. Chloe researched into the imagery of past GFW to develop impactful digital collages as a tribute to the ambassadors and patrons that have supported the last thirty years.

Nicola Knight, Course Leader, BA (Hons) Fashion Design said:
‘I’m really proud of all our students hard -work. It’s been an incredibly challenging year for designers, confined to the boundaries of their homes, and I’m delighted that Catie & Chloe have the opportunity to showcase the many skills they’ve developed and get to work with the Graduate Fashion Foundation team for GFW 2021'
