This year’s end of year show, Going Going Gone… was full of a diverse range of talent and artistic achievement. It was a true representation of the intelligent, creative and hard working individuals who study here.
June at Leeds College of Art is always an exciting time. As the year winds down for many, there is a flurry of activity for final year students getting ready for their last show at the College.
This year’s Further Education students exhibited their works in our Vernon Street building beneath high ceilings and glowing skylights. Along with stunning pieces of art and design were plaques next to each student’s works listing all the exciting places they were heading to next year. We were especially excited to see just how many were moving to Leeds College of Arts’ Higher Education courses!
The graduating students from the Higher Education degrees exhibited throughout our Blenheim Walk building. As the sounds of music, laughter, and excited talking filled the building, students, staff and visitors were wowed by the visual displays. From Fine Art, Graphic Design to Printed Textiles, every course had an impressive array of works on show. New for this year too, was ‘The Art Market’, where visitors could purchase prints and artwork being sold by the students.
Still, for us here in the Students’ Union, just as exciting as seeing the works in Going Going Gone… was seeing the smiles on the faces of our students. Seeing the joy that each students’ time at College has given them, along with all of their hard work realised, makes it clear to us that Leeds College of Art is a very remarkable place. Made remarkable by the people who study here.
Congratulations to all who exhibited, your futures truly look bright!
