Trading Spaces is an exhibition by eight second year students from BA (Hons) Fine Art in association with Yorkshire Sculpture International.
The eight sculptural works exhibited have all been imagined in response to the specific history and context of Central Square Plaza, an urban location that has undergone a series of radical transformations in the last two centuries. From a hub of travel, communication and trading logistics in the nineteenth century as Leeds Central Station, to derelict site in the late twentieth century, to its current manifestation as a modern business, residential and consumer complex. These sculptural works each re-imagine time, place and materiality from the individual perspective of the exhibiting artist.
The exhibiting artists are: Abbi Vasey, Ben Allan, Beth Chamberlain, Emily Harling, Glen Ogden, Ruth Sultman, Seren Oakz and Tanith Bam.
Trading Spaces will be shown at Central Square Plaza, Wellington St. from Friday 21 – Sunday 23 June, 10.00 - 16.00.
