Fashion student selected as finalist in prestigious annual tailoring competition

28 March 2017

BA (Hons) Fashion student Monica Birzan was selected as a finalist for the prestigious Golden Shears Award 2017.

The Golden Shears Award is a bespoke tailoring competition held at the Merchant Taylors’ Hall every two years, providing an opportunity for tailoring apprentices and students to showcase their creative vision on a professional catwalk.

Monica was one of just 25 finalists who received recognition at the award ceremony.

Speaking to us about the event, Monica said:

“Everything was impeccable, the models, the organisation, the styling and the atmosphere. There is definitely a feeling I can’t describe when you see your garments alive on the catwalk!”
