Creative Writing course leader to judge the Aesthetica Creative Writing Award

23 August 2021

Creative Writing course leader Dr Karen Tobias-Green joins the short fiction jury for this year’s Aesthetica Creative Writing Award.

The Aesthetica Creative Writing Award is an international literary prize, a hotbed for new talent in Poetry and Short Fiction. The Award was launched after the publication of Aesthetica Magazine, as a way to support the next generation of literary talent. It is the sister competition to the Aesthetica Art Prize.

In 2013, the Award evolved into a standalone publication and prize. It offers writers a prominent platform and access to literary agents.

The Short Fiction and Poetry winners have gone to achieve widespread acclaim, including nominations and wins for the TS Eliot Prize, Forward Prize, Felix Dennis Award, and Eric Gregory Award, amongst others.

Partners of the 2021 Award include Granta, Redhammer Management, Poetry Society, Poetry London, Mslexia and Poetry School.

Karen is Course Leader for BA (Hons) Creative Writing and is a short story writer, poet and art reviewer. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and of the Royal Society of Arts. She is a member of NAWE, the national association of writers in education, and a member of the Poetry Society.
