Creative Advertisers nominated for YCN Awards

04 February 2014

Twelve students from Leeds College of Art were nominated at the 2013 YCN Student Awards, all receiving commendations for their work being recognised as ‘outstanding quality’.

The lavish award ceremony took place at the Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square in London. Students from both our BA (Hons) Creative Advertising and Graphic Design degree programmes received well-deserved commendations for the projects they submitted for the awards.

The YCN Student Awards annually showcase emerging creative excellence; which run closely alongside the many Universities, Colleges and Art & Design schools across the UK, and overseas too. The awards are based around a collection of live creative briefs; written each year by partnering brands, charities and other organisations.

Commended entrants are awarded at the Award ceremony and all commended work is showcased in the pages of the YCN Student Annual. 15,000 copies of the Annual are distributed across education, and across the creative industries. The Awards enable all those that take part to benefit from engaging with thoroughly contemporary communication challenges, and give increased confidence, visibility and employability to all those that excel within them.

The Awards were presented this year by YCN members including Lord Whitney, a Leeds based Set Design, Art Direction & Prop Making Company, who also styled the event – inspired by King Midas turning everything to gold.

Commendations were received by the following Leeds College of Art students: Bacardi Brief - Sam Lane; Churchill Brief - Suzanne Moore; Fedrigoni Brief - Nathan Bolton: Forestry Commission England Brief - Chris Shuttleworth; Goji - Ross Francis; The Feel Good Drinks Co. Brief - Stephanie Pickard and Imogen-Mary Hoefkens; UGG Brief - Kaitlin Pilcher & Danielle Jackson; Very Brief -Elizabeth Tyrer; Yahoo! Brief - Thomas Squire; Marriot Brief- Sebastien Needler.
