Karen Tobias-Green, Course Leader for the University’s new BA (Hons) Creative Writing degree begins a regular column on arts and culture website The State of the Arts this month.
The column, entitled Write. North. features interviews with writers who are currently writing in or about the North.
The column explores what shapes writing from, about, or has the sensibility, of the North, whilst at the same time recognising the North is both a complex construct and a real thing. It explores both the written word and the embodied writer, going about their work, in the place they write from. The first interviewee is BA (Hons) Fine Art Lecturer David Steans - writer, artist and performer. Karen speaks to him about authentic voices, performing writing and the genre of contemporary horror.
