Celebrating success at the Society of Dyers and Colourists Competition

31 March 2017

Amy Wain, a third year BA (Hons) Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design student is celebrating her success after winning the Society of Dyers and Colourists International Design Competition North of England heat.

Launched in 2002, the Society of Dyers and Colourists International Design Competition is an annual free to enter competition, open to students in 14 countries. This year the brief was ‘Design for a Circular Economy’, a reaction to today’s disposable ‘fast fashion’ with a focus on colour and sustainability.

Amy’s design ‘Emotive Lands’ was praised for its “excellent colour blending and mixing in situ”. She will now go forward to the UK final in York on 19 May, with the aim of reaching the international grand final in November.
