14 January 2016

BA (Hons) Fine Art 2015 graduate, Alex Beswetherick, has been selected for the 2016 FBA Futures Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London.  FBA Futures showcases work by outstanding graduate artists from 2015.

Graduates are chosen across the country by members of the Federation of British Artists (FBA).  The exhibition will be an exciting mix of degree show and newly made painting, sculpture and original prints, all exploring contemporary figuration and ideas of representation and draughtsmanship.

We asked Alex where he found the inspiration for his work and how it felt to be selected for FBA Futures:

“My work comes from looking at the world around me, studying the environment I am positioned in and the people who inhabit it.  I consider what drives humanity in their lives by exploring the human body and its structural form.  I felt very proud and honoured to be selected for this exhibition. It’s nice to know my work is being appreciated after I have worked so hard on it.”

This is the second year running that a Leeds College of Art Student has been selected; BA Fine Art graduate Hatty Pocock, was selected in 2015.

Alex’s work will be exhibited at the FBA Futures 2016 exhibition at Mall Galleries in London from 19 to 30 January 2016.  The exhibition will also tour to Beverley Art Gallery in Yorkshire in the summer.
