Alumni wallpaper design showcased at Heimtextil Frankfurt

08 January 2014

BA (Hons) Printed Textiles & Surface Pattern Design graduate Grizelda Kitching will see her wallpaper design exhibited at Heimtextil, Frankfurt - the biggest international trade fair for home and contract textiles.

The design was originally created for the CAMAC 2013 Student Wallpaper Design Competition, in which entrants were asked to seek inspiration from Archives to create wallpaper designs with appeal to todays' consumer.

Grizelda explains:

“I entered the CAMAC 2013 Student Wallpaper Design Competition whilst in my final year at Leeds College of Art. Through CAMAC I won a placement which I have just completed at the Zoffany Design Studio - which was a great experience, I gained an insight into industrial design and production for soft furnishings, wallpapers, prints and woven designs.  I predominantly worked on a particular design brief during my time at Zoffany, which meant I had sole responsibility for creating original artwork that I adapted from archived samples. I incorporated future trend forecasting and digitally manipulated hand drawn work through to colour matching to industrial specification ready for manufacture and sample.

I was then selected by The Surface Print Company, who chose from a selection of winning designs from The CAMAC 2013 Student Wallpaper Design Competition to have my wallpaper design printed on their new digital machine and showcased as part of their stand design at Heimtextil (Hall 3.1 Stand E10).”

Heimtextil runs 8 – 11th January 2014 in Frankfurt, Germany.
