RECLAIM BAGS is a brand that was born in 2011 by British based designer, Sophie Postma whilst studying BA (Hons) Fashion at Leeds college of Art. The brand uses recycled rubber inner tubes as the main material to create each individual, handmade piece. The concept behind the brand is to produce a sustainable range of handbags and accessories that will change people’s perceptions of recycled products and test the limits of re-use.
The pop-up at Topshop Oxford Street launched on the 18th May and runs for a month. With a variety of RECLAIM products on offer, ranging from the smaller purses to the larger shoulder bags, in such a central London location, the pop-up marks a real achievement for Sophie and her brand.
Sophie told us her ambition for RECLAIM, “By emerging ourselves within the fashion industry and through the use of innovative and contemporary design, RECLAIM BAGS primarily wants to reduce the stigma surrounding recycled products, with emphasis being that something beautiful can be produced out of something that would have otherwise been waste.”
The popularity of the PVC and Rubber Mini clutches, has meant they now produce even more variations using an assortment of coloured PVC, including, grey, blue, yellow and orange, as well as the ever popular red and clear clutches.
