Alumni and Supporters Fund Bursaries 2019

08 November 2019

Alumni and Supporters Fund bursaries have been awarded to three Undergraduate students at the University for 2019.

The bursaries were awarded to support travel and research for students for a project, placement or opportunity. They were made possible by donations made to the Alumni and Supporters Fund which was set up in 2015.

Isobel Harper is currently in her final year studying BA (Hons) Fine Art. During April of this year she embarked on her Pilgrimage Project. Isobel spent two days walking along a section of the Hadrian’s Wall path ending at Lanercost Priory to visit the gravestone of Li Yuan Chia which was carved by her grandfather Bryant Fedden. Phoebe Ball graduated from BA (Hons) photography in 2019. Phoebe’s practice is fashion editorial photography with a focus on punk as a subculture. After graduating in July she embarked on a project to Berlin with the aim of understanding punk’s legacy on contemporary German society. Supported by the bursary she was able to fund her trip creating a body of work for her portfolio.

Jennifer Cobb graduated from the Textile Design course in 2019. Jennifer was offered a week placement at Degournay Studios in Chelsea in London, a high end, handmade wallpaper company. Jennifer was able to stay in London for the week to work in the design studio learning about the process of wallpapers design and distribution. In the studio she worked with the graphic designer by removing backgrounds from imagery needed for designs as well as assisting in planning for a photoshoot.

All three students have all expressed their gratitude to those who have supported the bursary fund, without which they would not have been able to access these opportunities.

Gifts of every size have a lasting impact and Leeds Arts University is profoundly grateful to all those who support our work and our students. To find out how you can donate please visit our support page here
