Hello. I’m Rahul Rudra, a professional daydreamer who whips pictures and words into creative solutions. An intro that’s befuddled distant relatives at awkward gatherings over last 5 years.

Currently based in Mumbai, I work at Ogilvy India as an Art Director (MW). And being an alumnus of the Leeds Arts University’s Creative Advertising course, helped me get here.

I am probably an exception to at least two Indian AdLand stereotypes: I returned to join the local industry after studying abroad; I’m an art director who writes as well as strategises. My ability to do the latter must be attributed to my time at LAU. The course taught me to hone a wide range of problem-solving and communication skills to distil ‘ideas that work’.

The course regularly exposed students to live briefs, facetime with industry professionals, visits to leading international agencies, and showcases at creative conventions such as the D&AD Festival. All of which have helped me network and compete on global level (making my marks at Cannes Young Lions and Young Spikes Asia was just the start.) A huge bonus is the Creative Advertising course’s collaborations within LAU allowing students to upskill in areas including photography, printing techniques, fashion styling, etc.

Creative integration between art-school designers and mass-media writers is often a struggle, especially during their initial years of working in an agency setup. CA alums have the advantage here. Trained to work in art and copy teams, employers can rely on us to solve complex problems with simple yet effective solutions.
