My names Caitlin. I work at Grey London as a creative. I studied creative advertising at Leeds University Arts. I joined Grey in the peak of covid which was weird. The piece I’m most proud of is my Lucy Edwards project for Pantene. It was a really special project. The inclusion of disabled people in advertising is incredibly important and that isn’t always reflected, especially in the beauty sector. Just because Lucy cannot see her hair doesn’t mean she doesn’t care about it. On top of that she was a complete joy to work with. We were also super lucky to have Paulo Kudaki direct it - which was crazy.
Studying a creative advertising degree does LOADS. It gives context of the industry from strategy to design and where creative falls in that. The course also provides you with a tone of tools; from using adobe software to knowing where to look for industry opportunities to developing a portfolio of work. The alumni network is also really helpful, everyone loves a familiar face (a good ice breaker too).
It sounds simple but what employers get from hiring an ad grad versus someone who didn’t do the course is someone who is able to come up with creative ideas and execute them in an advertising context.
