Melanie King: First Light

Melanie King is a multi-disciplinary artist and curator with a specific focus on astronomy.

She studied Fine Art at Leeds Arts University, and is currently conducting doctoral research by practice at the Royal College of Art in London. A commissioned interpretation text by Isobel Wohl (PhD candidate, RCA) will accompany this exhibition.

You're invited to the closing event of First Light at Leeds Arts University. King will present a lecture on her research into analogue photography and lunar imagery entitled 'Ancient Light.' She is joined by astronomer Paul Hill who will respond to her lecture from a scientist's perspective before enabling the audience to view the night sky with telescopes.

Melanie King is an alumna of Leeds Arts University and is now a doctoral candidate at the Royal College of Art in London.

Paul Hill is an elected fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, co-presenter and writer of Awesome Astronomy podcast, and Space Ambassador for ESERO.
