Creative Networks at Light Night 2017

05 October - 05 October 2017

Creative Networks is Leeds Arts University's major professional events programme with talks from a diverse group of high profile speakers from across the creative industries to entertain, challenge and inspire.

This year, in partnership with Leeds Light Night, Creative Networks presents an evening of talks with world renowned light artist Bruce Munro, and collectives T-I-L-T and Blauwe Uur. These artists will take us on a fascinating journey as they talk about their work, their careers, and their experiences within the practice of light art and installation. Delve into the world of light and find out what goes into creating such visually stunning artworks.

British artist Bruce Munro is best known for immersive large-scale light-based installations inspired largely by his interest in shared human experience. He captures his responses to stimuli such as music, literature, science, and the world around him for reference, reflection, and subject matter, producing monumental temporary experiential artworks as well as intimate story-pieces.

TILT is a French artistic studio created in 2001 that focuses on the exploration of light and its interplay with art, architecture and space. Their work encompasses all aspects of light art, whether for temporary interventions or permanent installations, with the aim of changing the view and experience people have of the site they investigate. Inspired by nature or objects of the everyday life, TILTs works are thought to create a dreamlike universe made of humour and poetry. Their installations are meant to invite the passers-by to take over the space and build their own experience through the use of light and it endless possibilities.

Blauwe Uur make visual performances and installations. Using spatial objects and working in unique locations, which they bring to life through sound, light, video and interaction.
