Entry Requirements
Foundation Diploma in Art & Design
At enrolment you should normally have achieved:
- Successful completion of the Canadian Secondary School Graduation Diploma (all provinces)
You will also need:
Undergraduate Degrees
At enrolment you should normally have achieved:
Completion of the Secondary School Diploma of all provinces/territories as follows:
- British Columbia: An overall grade of 70% in 5 grade 12 subjects
- Ontario: An overall average of 70% in 6 grade 12 University or University/College preparation modules
- Quebec: An overall average of 70% in 5 DEC (Diplôme d’Études Collégiales) subjects
- All other provinces/territories: An overall average of 70% in 5 grade 12 subjects
You will also need:
- One reference to support your application from an academic teacher, tutor or counsellor

Applicants for BMus (Hons) Popular Music Performance will also need:
- Pass a Leeds Arts University digital audition in the year prior to entry demonstrating a high level of performing ability – equivalent to ABRSM/Rockschool/Trinity Grade 8.
- Your Grade 5 Theory will be assessed through your practical performance of an original song, instrumental composition, or arrangement of an existing song that has been uploaded to a suitable video sharing platform (YouTube, Vimeo, or Weibo) for remote review. Depending on the outcome, the requirement for a formal Grade 5 Music Theory qualification may be waived.
English Language Requirements
If you are an Canadian Passport holder, you do not need to prove your level of English for Visa application purposes. If you hold a different passport, you can prove you level of English with the below Canadian qualifications:
- Canadian High School Graduation Diploma - if your language of instruction is English
Postgraduate Degrees
At enrolment you should normally have achieved:
- An undergraduate UK honours degree or international equivalent in a subject related to your proposed course of study or;
- A degree-equivalent postgraduate diploma /professional qualification
You will also need:
- A short portfolio (application images)
- One reference to support your application from an academic or a creative practitioner
Applicants who hold a degree from another discipline or have experiential learning in lieu of a degree that can demonstrate appropriate knowledge and skills may also be considered for entry using our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.
