Jamie Mills is a lecturer on the BA (Hons) Illustration programme. His previous teaching experience covers a range of courses at FE Level including Illustration, Graphic Design, Illustration, Fine Art & Printmaking.
Alongside his teaching, Jamie is a practicing freelance illustrator and illustration researcher. His specific interests lie in the communication of science writing, exploring the relationships between natural phenomena and making those visual. Dealing with field-work and observation, this research is then transferred to the realms of self-publishing, printmaking and animation. Ecological sustainability is key to this process with careful consideration for the content of the work as well as the materials and processes used in production.
Jamie has exhibited extensively and showcased work at print and illustration festivals both nationally and internationally, including OFFPRINT London, Pick Me Up, ELCAF, Leeds Print Festival and Angoulême Comics Festival. He is also currently in the process of organising a celebration of printed material, under the name Print Stuff, to take place in York in April 2017.
Jamie joined the BA (Hons) Illustration programme in 2015 and his role as lecturer includes delivering lectures, seminars, tutorials and workshops including assessment and feedback for the entire year group.
