Alec Chalmers is a Senior Lecturer on the BA (Hons) Comic and Concept Art course. He is a 3D Artist in the games industry, specialising in Environment Design. Before joining Leeds Arts University in September 2019 he worked as an Environment Artist at the computer game developer Just Add Water Ltd. developing multiple Multi-platform titles as well as lecturing at Teesside University.

Approaching Concept Art from the perspective of a 3D Game Artist has enabled Alec to research and implement new tools and workflows into the pipeline. He is particularly interested in the areas of procedural software, photogrammetry and VR typically used in games, and how they can be assimilated into the practice of environment design.

Alec has an MA Concept Art for Games and Animation and a BA (Hons) Visual Communication from Birmingham City University.
