Join the Saturday Art School to cover drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, fashion, sculpture and animation, using the University's superb facilities.
What you’ll cover
You’ll get the chance to try a range of techniques and materials.
These sessions are a great way to learn about drawing and painting. You will use all sorts of materials from pencils and charcoal, ink and paint, wire and string, watered down clay and tape- you might even draw using a torch.
This is a great opportunity to explore art and design with a different activity each week. You will learn how to develop your skills from simple printmaking techniques to using the University’s professional printing presses.
What you’ll do
We’ll start each day with a drawing session, because we think drawing is vital to most art & design disciplines, before moving on to the subject of the day
Each session offers a thorough ‘hands on’ experience of different art and design disciplines
We’ll look at the work of contemporary artists as well as artists from the past
Besides the techniques and equipment we’ve mentioned, you’ll broaden your understanding of what it means to be a professional artist or designer.
You’ll also learn quite a lot about yourself (like what you’re especially good at, and what inspires you), and you’ll certainly gain loads of confidence. You’ll also go back to school with exciting new skills!
What facilities will you use?
You’ll work in our fantastic and well equipped facilities at the Blenheim Walk Building. Click here for a virtual tour of our University.
What do you need to bring?
We’ll provide all the materials you’ll need though you may wish to bring a snack and a drink for the break.
