Adrian Davies is ‘Programme Director of Lens Based Practices’. His area of specialist research is the ‘photobook’ which informs the delivery of modules at level 4, level 6 and as a specialist tutor for the MA Creative Practice.

Adrian's photographic works have been exhibited and published in a number of locations (including The Photographers Gallery London). Photographic prints have been purchased for both private and public collections. His commercial experience was gained as a freelance photographer/assistant working in London prior to teaching full time. He taught within a number of educational institutions in London on a range of photographic courses since 1998. He moved to Leeds in 2008 for the role of Course Leader at Leeds Arts University to establish the BA (Hons) Photography when it was introduced at the University and fulfilled this role until 2016.

Adrian is engaged with the wider photographic community at an international level and regularly attends events within Europe to keep up to date with developments. He participated as a panel member at the Recontres d’Arles international photography festival, France in 2016. It is this external engagement that has inspired an international aspect to the course through establishing trips for students to Shanghai, Tokyo, New York, Paris, Berlin, Madrid and Amsterdam.

He is an experienced external examiner having performed the role for a number of universities within the UK, Hong Kong and Thailand. He has been involved as a panel member in the validation and revalidation of courses for institutions within the UK.

Adrian is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His qualifications include MA Photography (London College of Communication), PGCE Art & Design (Goldsmith’s) and BA (Hons) Design - Photography First Class (Staffordshire University).
