The Confucius project at Leeds Arts University aims to bring Chinese language and culture into our programmes and provide an international experience for our students.
In February 2016 we celebrated our collaboration with a fantastic launch event, themed around Chinese New Year. The event featured traditional Chinese food and performances and was enjoyed by both students and guests.
The project is an innovative collaboration between Leeds Arts University and the Business Confucius Institute at the University of Leeds (BCIUL). Live competition briefs are set and students take part in a range of workshops covering language lessons, calligraphy, paper cutting and Chinese symbolism to inform and inspire their designs.
Every year two winning students have the the fantastic opportunity to travel to China to participate in the Confucius Institute Summer School. Their itinerary includes a visit to the British Council, cultural lectures, Chinese language classes and a visit to the Great Wall, plus invaluable industry experience such as presenting to companies including Meng Luo Chuan and Lalabobo.
