We have a long-standing relationship with East Street Arts, a contemporary arts organisation which offers studio space at Patrick Studios.

Leeds Arts University has secured studio spaces for two graduates at the headquarters of East Street Arts, Patrick Studios in Mabgate, Leeds. Artists benefit from monthly mentoring sessions, networking and collaboration opportunities, professional development events, exhibitions and community projects.

Who?

  • Jamie Avis - Jamie graduated in Visual Communications in 2013.  With mentoring from artist Tom Palin, Jamie developed his artistic practice at East Street Arts Barkston House studio.  Jamie explored portraiture, taking part in Sky television’s Portrait Artist of the Year programme. He has also been commissioned by The Sunshine Underground’  band  to produce the art work for their albums and tour backdrops.   In 2016 Jamie completed a Lifelong Learning PGCE qualification at Huddersfield University, and he now teaches art at Leeds City University.
  • Josh Gibbs - Josh graduated in Fine Art in 2011. After a period back home in Norfolk after graduation, Josh returned to Leeds in 2012 and began working out of East Street Arts Barkston House studio. Support from East Street Arts helped Josh to develop his work, re-establish connections within the artistic community and collaborate on a range of projects. Since then Josh has worked and exhibited at Assembly House studios in Leeds and BilbaoArte in Spain, and travelled extensively across Europe and Asia.
