We caught up with BA (Hons) Illustration student Sol about studying in the UK, what inspires her work and her plans after graduation...
Why did you choose to study at Leeds Arts University?
I took a good time at looking into it and seeing if it was a right fit for me personally, after my interview I saw that the tutors really value their students and like to help them further their skill.
What are the advantages of studying at a specialist arts institution?
The guidance from the tutors is very on point and the personal experience they have to offer.
There are important differences in the way art and design is taught in the UK compared to other countries. What have you noticed regarding the learning experience at Leeds Arts University?
The way they set up their semesters is a bit of an inconvenience due to student loans but the way they build up their modules is actually quite structured and good.
How have you adjusted to life in the UK and what advice would you give a new international student?
I’ve adjusted just fine, I would recommend setting up a bank account as soon as possible and budget well since the UK is a bit on the expensive side.
What are the studios and facilities like at the University?
The studio is big and good space to work if it’s not too crowded
Do you feel that studying at Leeds Arts University is preparing you well for life after graduation?
Definitely! They feed you all the information you'll need for after graduation.
