On 10th & 11th of October BA (Hons) Fine Art Students and Programme Leader Sheila Gaffney set up a Sculpture Studio at The Hepworth, Wakefield.
Working in full view of the visiting public they made 3 dimensional studies of The Hepworth’s sculpture on public display.
This was the launch of a prestigious project being run as a partnership between BA (Hons) Fine Art Programme area and The Hepworth Wakefield.
After this initial period of research the students will be developing forms for The Hepworth Wakefield Handling Collection.
This is a special collection of sculptural forms which will emulate and correspond closely to major sculptures in Wakefield’s collection, and with which visitors can meaningfully interact.
The project will culminate in an exhibition in May 2012 from which The Hepworth Wakefield Education Team will select pieces to be developed in possibly bronze or stone, owned and used by the gallery.
