This year Leeds College of Art & Design have been celebrating the new industrial partnerships made between the Creative Industries Development Agency, Leeds City Council and the National Diploma Graphic Design course.
Both year groups industrial liaisons activities have been run as competition briefs whilst giving students the opportunity to potentially have their work used by the clients.
This is a fast developing area for the course who aim to make live brief and freelance opportunities common throughout the programme. Students are given the opportunity to:
• work directly with, and present to clients,
• work on real industry briefs,
• have work used and printed by clients.
First year students have been working with Leeds City council’s design team on the scores on the doors publicity material.
Second year students were asked to work on a fictitious rebrand of the CIDA organisation and later worked on the branding of Yorkshire Opera.
CIDA specialises in helping strengthen the contribution of the creative industries to every sector of a global economy, regionally, nationally and internationally.
“The links made with CIDA and Leeds City Council have brought a focussed and beneficial wave of employer engagement to our students, this supports the courses vision of educational and vocational excellence.” Andy Grayston, Course Leader
