The graduation ceremony will take place on Friday 6 December 2013 in Leeds Town Hall. The doors to the Town Hall will open at 9am and the ceremony starts at 11.30am. We recommend that you arrive at least an hour and a half before the ceremony is due to commence to allow time for the fitting of your gown and photography.
When you arrive at the Town Hall please enter through the main entrance up the wide flight of stone steps on the Headrow.
Please see the Order of Ceremony for timings throughout the day.
If you are travelling by car there are a number of multi-story car parks within 5 minutes walk and some pay-and-display on-street parking around the Town Hall. If you are arriving by coach or train the Town Hall is no more than a ten minute walk from both stations. To help orientate yourself see the visitor guide that shows the Town Hall, car parks and stations. 390k
The main entrance to Leeds Town Hall is accessed via a flight of broad stone stairs. Disabled access is situated at street level to the right hand side of the main entrance, please take the lift to the first floor where you will be able to register and collect your tickets.
The disabled viewing area is at the front left of the hall, for ease we recommend asking one of the ushers to guide you to this area. To ensure we have enough space available for wheel chair users please email email@example.com if anyone in your party would like to use the disabled viewing area.
There is very limited disabled parking at Leeds Town Hall so we recommend using the collection and drop off area outside the Town Hall if anyone in your party has limited mobility.
Before the ceremony, tea, coffee and water will be served in three lounges around the main hall. After the ceremony we will serve a sparkling wine reception in the same lounges.
Your ticket, plus two complimentary guest tickets and any extra guest tickets you’ve purchased will be available for collection at the registration desk in the Town Hall on graduation day. Tickets will not be sent in the post.
Due to limited space in the Town Hall please do not invite guests who do not have a ticket, they will not be admitted.
Extra guest tickets have now sold out.
If you are unable to get extra tickets we will be live streaming the ceremony through our College website. You will be able to access the live footage through the ‘Graduation’ button on our homepage at www.leeds-art.ac.uk.
Please be aware if you are watching the live stream on a slow broadband connection, you may experience glitches in the broadcast.
Specialist gowning company Ede & Ravenscroft will be present on the day to help fit your gown and take your photograph. Both the gowning and photography areas are open from 9am. Gowning will take place in the crypt, we kindly ask guests not to accompany graduands into the gowning area but to wait in one of the lounges serving refreshments. After the ceremony the gowns will need to be returned by 2.30pm.
Photography is located in the Sullivan room, again we kindly ask that guests wait in one of the lounges serving refreshments, unless they are planning to have a photograph with the graduand. If you are unable to have your photo taken before the ceremony, the photography area will reopen after the ceremony until 2pm.
Booking has now closed for graduation.
If you would still like to attend please email firstname.lastname@example.org
If you completed your degree in June 2013 you are invited to the graduation ceremony.
The graduation ceremony is a special occasion where you can formally celebrate all the hard work you put into achieving your degree. It will be a pleasurable event that you, your family, programme friends and tutors can remember for many years to come. We have one ceremony each year, which means you get to celebrate with friends from every course in the College.
You will receive your degree certificate on stage from the College Principal, hear from a leading creative industry professional and celebrate afterwards with a glass of bubbly.
Graduand and guest seating will be separate. Graduand seating is at the front of the hall, each seat is specifically allocated to a particular graduate, it is essential you sit in the seat we have reserved for you so you are awarded the correct certificate on stage.
Guest seating is unreserved. Guests can either sit at the back or at the sides of the main hall or up on the balcony which can be accessed via the stairs or lift.
To participate in the ceremony you must wear the Open University Validation Services gown as supplied by Ede & Ravenscroft.
Graduation is a formal occasion so please dress in a smart presentable fashion. You will find it useful to wear a buttoned shirt or blouse to which the academic hood can be fastened. Grips are useful to secure the hat. Your degree will be presented on a stage which is accessed via a number of steps you may feel more secure wearing ‘sensible’ shoes.
