James Ashworth and Andrew Dobbie won a two week placement at Cheetham Bell JWT in Manchester during their time as Foundation Degree students on our Creative Advertising course.
Within a month, they had both been offered permanent positions as a junior creative team at this prestigious advertising agency: James as art director and Andrew as copywriter.
“The course made us think not only creatively but also strategically about our careers – we were constantly encouraged to enter competitions and workshops by our tutor, David Anderson,” said the pair.
Based on their obvious display of potential, the pair got the chance to fly to Milan and meet teams from all over the JWT network. “Being surrounded by young creatives who JWT believe in was incredible” said Andrew.
David Anderson explained why he thought the team has been so successful so soon: “They were focused, which is why they were offered a very good position in a worldwide advertising agency with such an excellent reputation. We’re delighted they’ve been so successful, and hope they will become mentors to students at the College in the future.”
Andrew described an average day in the life of a creative team. “Wake up. Start thinking about ideas. Think about it all day. Go to bed. If you’re in advertising, it doesn’t matter where you are or what you’re doing, you’re always in advertising!”
