Recently relocated and newly equipped, this resource offers an impressive facility with a high professional standard throughout.
The main focus is textile flat-bed screen-printing, dyeing and digital printing.
The digital print room has two Mimaki TX2 printers (direct printing with textile pigments and reactive dyes) and a Mimaki TX1 printer (in-direct printing with disperse dye). There is also a dedicated area within the resource for printmaking; intaglio (drypoint and etching) mono-printing, lino and screen printing.
We have a large flat-bed screen-printing room for BA (Hons) Printed Textiles & Surface Pattern Design students, plus two further areas for screen-printing, batik, lino and collography, a dye laboratory, a screen processing room, and a fabric finishing room (housing, amongst other equipment, an industrial baking cabinet and two star steamers). Five portable heat presses in various areas support indirect printing and are used for sublimation, heat transfer, foiling and embossing processes.
