BA (Hons) Photography - Senior Lecturer

Joanna Craddock is a Senior Lecturer on the BA (Hons) Photography at Leeds Arts University. She is module leader for ‘Studio Practice’ at level 4, as well as the research modules ‘Context of Practice’ at level 5 and 6. As dissertation supervisor and year tutor for level 6, she supports the academic progress of the students in their final year of study.

Joanna’s on-going research interests include the relationships between theatre and photography, the politics of being seen, and the ways in which materiality and technology impacts upon the production and reception of work, explored through a practice-based and theoretical research activity. More broadly this engages with the ways in which changes in photographic technology is transforming visual culture, addressing the implications of this through the modular design and teaching content at all levels.

She has a PGCE for Higher Education, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She received a First Class Fine Art BA (Hons) from Sheffield Hallam University and an MA from the Royal College of Art, London. Previously she has worked as an artist and photographer in a range of settings including museums, galleries, and community environments, and as associate lecturer on Fine Art BA (Hons) at Sheffield Hallam University.
